The Funny Thing about Being Injured

Movement is medicine. In all forms.
For a long time, movement was very altered and painful for me.
In October of the Year That Shall Not Be Named (2020), I managed to break my hip and damage my leg. With the added bonus of a shoulder impingement. All on my left side.
It was super relaxing and in no way a stressful waking nightmare.
Through all the pain, tears, both physical and mental work, the slow process of relearning to walk, nerve damage, meds, therapy, wounds, working to undo muscle imbalances throughout my entire body, and the rest, i was left with a deep connection to and love for my body I never had before.
The funny thing about being so injured is how any small movement can fill you with gratitude. That gratitude for movement was felt in my wheelchair, using a walker, then to a cane, and now on my own. Each mode of movement has their own place in my heart. While I still have some limitations and pain, and my body may be different now, there is so much power in making space to love, move, and appreciate your body as it is today.
I don't *have* to move my body for health, I *get* to. And so do you. With whatever is available to you.
This shift in mindset has been a gift. It's a gift I wish to share with you. No matter your physical circumstance, you can both love your body as it is today and push to take care of it for the future.
As we enter Resolution Mode, my hope is that self love and connection will be included in the lists of things we want for ourselves in the new year and beyond.
Please join me. Let's all give ourselves a physical or mental hug and take a collective deep breath. We got this.
Happy new year ❤️
